Swing Time

If you don't mind conflating golf and religion — and too many committed golfers don't — it is probably not too big a stretch to consider Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan as some sort of divine trinity. The threesome are also jointly celebrated in American Triumvirate, a triple bio of three southern, Depression-era gents who ruled over a game they first came to as caddies, hired backs for the clubs of the wealthy who would one day worship them.

The question is, of course, do golfers care whether or not ball-whacking heroes were happy or nice as people, or do they just want to steal the magic of their swing. And the answer most likely is:
